That is still a pretty big update for players who have been waiting for a smaller BGMI version. Until recently there were plenty of rumours about BGMI Lite but not much you could really rely on. Now we at least have an official pre-registration date and confirmation that the game is on the way.
There is an interesting PUBG connection too. PUBG Mobile LIGHT was announced recently and its pre-registration also starts on August 25. PUBG Mobile LIGHT is planned for later in 2026 with an Android starting size of around 1GB. The matching registration date is worth noticing, though BGMI Lite and PUBG Mobile LIGHT still have separate launch details.

The timing naturally stands out. Indian players get BGMI Lite pre-registration on the same date that PUBG Mobile LIGHT registration opens for the wider PUBG Mobile audience.
That does not mean both games will have the same release date. It also doesn’t mean their file sizes or system requirements will be identical. Those details need to be treated separately until each game gets its own official information.
But if you have been following both announcements, August 25 is now an important date for both LIGHT and BGMI Lite.
Has KRAFTON Confirmed BGMI Lite for India?
Yes. The new announcement confirms that BGMI Lite is coming for Indian players and the official BGMI channel is already promoting the August 25 pre-registration date.

You may see claims that BGMI Lite will work on every 2GB RAM phone. That could turn out to be true for some devices but it is not something we can promise yet.
